After leaving my previous web host (Interland), I signed up for hosting with Lunarpages. As with any budget web host, they were not perfect (none of them are), but they did provide me with reliable service for several years. Once things started to decline, they went downhill fast!!
It started out with a few minutes of downtime here and there. After paying for a site monitor service for 90 days, I discovered my site experienced some downtime EVERY DAY. When I confronted LP with this information, they dismissed me and told me my data was in error. Shortly after that, I began having difficulties accessing my email. A few weeks later, I was advised that my account had been moved to a new server due to "capacity issues". It was at that point that things really took a turn for the worse.
I had six months left on my contract but pointed my sites elsewhere. I called them to have AutoRenewal disabled, which they said they did. Two months before the renewal was supposed to happen, my credit card got charged.
One of my biggest complaints about LP was the utter lack of communication. Once I notified them of my cancellation, I started receiving "System Notifications" about scheduled maintenance and downtime. I also received several notifications of "vulnerable scripts" found in my account and DEMANDING that I remove them ... or face "account suspension". I had already received a notification that my account had been deleted and attempts to access my [former] account were futile. After several phone calls and emails, I finally talked to someone who told me my account was not deleted; it was simply disabled ... and would remain as such until the term of my contract ran out. It was a long six months!!
Funny, how they refused to communicate with me when I was a "valued customer", but chose to SPAM me week after week once I notified them that I was leaving. If you are looking for someone to host your web site, stay away from Lunarpages!

Exceptionally BAD host. I'm a web developer (since 1987), and one of my clients has this service. That will be corrected soon. I've never seen such a poor excuse for a hosting company. They're overloaded, oversold, have absurd policies, and employ "customer service" people who are clueless beyond how to cut-and-paste. There is absolutely nothing good I can say about this hosting service. If anyone is looking for a good website host, keep looking. Lunarpages is, by far, the worst host I've ever had the displeasure of using.

Their 24 hour support is not for resellers. The call center can't help resellers. You call them and they are very helpful but as soon as they find out you are a reseller they say it is a different department and route you one. I had an issue and it took me 3 days to resolve. I had to keep calling and sending emails. It was awful!
I recommend hostgator!

I've paid for the anonymity , they charged me it's OK.
But after several months I've occasionally discovered that ALL my contact information opened to ANYBODY in the WHOIS search engines.
Imagine yourself seeing your telephone number and home address exposed to ANYBODY in the entire world, when you desire quite the opposite!
I complained to their billing department, asking for compensation.
Then I received a response from technician, that "fixed my problem".
I complained, that problem is already can't be solved by simple fix, because I had several months of security broken and I've paid for that my money!
Then several responses from them, each of them dedicated to make you feel like an idiot, because you feel, like a deaf people speaking to you!!
In additional , their control panel is hardly accessible sometime, several times I was unable to edit my pages. They are overloaded and they are really "cheap", that means "cheap" quality of their hosting and neglectful support.
The worst experience I've had EVER!!!!

Lunarpages is an unethical company. I cancelled, repeatedly, my account with them because customer and technical assistance was abysmal. They continued to charge my credit card, ignoring both my email and voice mail messages indicating I was terminating my contract. They have charged my Visa card with my authorization and refuse to reply to my messages. I have reported them to the Better Business Bureau and would like to save others from the bad experience and exploitive practices of this company.

I am very very happy with these guys. I have not experienced any of the probs listed previously. The customer service is top notch, always friendly and quick to respond. The deals are great for the price.
The only problem I have ever had with them was a threatening to suspend my account due to spam abuse, which was something that wasnt my fault at all. They worked with me very quickly to get it resolved and even do checking up to see if I had had any more issues with it.
I dont think you can go wrong with these guys, if you can understand we are all humans that is. :)

I have been with LP almost since the beginning and have watched their support and customer service decline over the last 2 years. I'm currently looking for another web host because I can't get any support from their email request or from their forum. I think their problem has been rapid growth and they are over whelmed. I would not recommend them unless they can turn around to what they were 6 years ago.....doubtful :(

I don't know where the other reviewers have been hosting, but I've been with Lunar for 4 years now and have experienced very little of their complaints. Only once or twice have I really ever had to talk to their support technicians due to erros, and both times everything was resolved over the phone in a matter of minutes!
Honestly, I've never been with another host and never would want to. Lunarpages' customer support is amazing, respectful, and extremely fast. Their phone support is no longer 24/7 and not toll free, but if you send them an email that's free and they've always gotten back to me in less than a few hours so waht's the big deal?
They're reliable and I've been here for a long time. Great price, never gone up for me (in fact, they lowered the price :D) and I contnue to get all the new offers they give to NEW customers. Love them and would always recommend them!!

I'm not sure where the high customer support rankings for LunarPages come from. First of all, they do NOT offer toll-free customer support anymore - you have to pay to sit on hold for up to an hour when the system dumps you into a mailbox that is full. Second, many of the customer support reps are rude and overall incapable of solving problems or unwilling to try. Third, LunarPages wants its customers to use the online HelpDesk (and after launching the new site for it, they removed the toll-free help desk number to force customers to the online help desk) but it has been down for days. Plus, it generally takes a day or two just to get a response from the online help desk; and at that I've been waiting three weeks for the latest problem to be resolved.
I'm also not sure about the quality of their servers. The first one we were on went down for a week, and a testimony to the poor quality of their customer support is that after a few days of interrupted service from the server when we finally contacted the help desk we were told the server was operating fine. It was another day or two before they realized the server was NOT fine, and then a few more of waiting for the repair before we finally insisted that our site be moved to a functioning server so that we could conduct business.
I would not recommend LunarPages, am sorry that I have in the past, and will be switching to a new host imminently.

i totally agree with scott, joe and phile below. this is one of the worst hosting companies i've ever experience. there have been lots of system trouble, so often db errors and very slow downtime for 7 months. if you have an e-commerce website don't even think about this hosting you will regret your decision as soon as signing up.

The worst company. No support unless you call them like 20 times. They hang up on you. They dont sell what they advertise. I purchased a reseller account, the i found out that, I cant host any other sites but my own. Hello Thats not a reseller, that just basic hosting. The price was 95 bucks. they told me that in order to host other websites, I need to purchase more resellers. One reseller account per website at 95 bucks a pop. Needles to say i took advantage of the 30 day money back guarantee.

I was disgraced by lunarpages after a small misunderstanding. I created and hosted a website similar to speedyshare.com for a few months along with about 5 other websites (nothing special, read only ones). Then all of a sudden my account got suspended and ALL my sites were taken offline!
I asked why and they said it was because i had a file hosting script on my site (the script that allowed people to upload files and view them on my site). They also said in the same email that my account has been permanently suspended and i will get the remaining year of my hosting refunded. Then within 24 hours they had not replied to ANY of my 3 emails to them and they refunded my money to a card number that no longer exists! i can not get any contact with them now and i can not get access to 5 domain names they registered for me!
They have totally crippled my websites leaving me in the dark and being ignorant about it not even waiting for my reasoning or anything! Total disrespect and i will never be using them again! I have been with them for over 3 years and I am now switching to bluehost.

After suffering the nightmare that is 123-reg in the UK, I have moved my sites, and most of my clients sites, to Lunar Pages. I wish I'd done it earlier - I'd have slept better sooner!
Cost is particularly good for those of us in the UK at the moment because of exchange rates.
On the RARE ocassion I've had any problems, email response has been very quick. Not just problems (and that's probably stating it too strongly), but general questions are treated with respect and answered promptly. I even had the guys and gals at LP help me sort out a PHP form, which is beyond their remit really - fabulous support.
It's only 'cos I'm mean that I haven't rated any "10s"!
No hesitation whatsoever recommending these folks.
